Harry Potter Party

About a year ago at a Halloween party, a friend and I decided it would be fun to have a Harry Potter party. We finally had it, and it was awesome! Here are a few of the things we did, including links to where we got ideas:

We used many ideas from the following blogs:
A Heap of Love
Centsational Girl
Eating Bender
House of Paint

First, when people walked in, they went through Platform 9 3/4.

They then chose a house. These houses were their teams for the night.

Here are a few other awesome decorations:

And yummy food:

We started out with some games, including a Horcrux Hunt:

Utah Valley 360

My hubby also did a Potions Class. It was a pretty cool reaction.

While others were doing potions, we looked at a fun article: Mormon Harry Potter

Finally we finished up with Harry Potter Scene It.

Here are the final scores, although I think they were tampered with...

Overall, we felt that our party was a great success! Everyone had a great time. Hopefully we can do it again next year!

Health-ified Creamed Eggs on Toast

Recipes must be the theme for the start up of this blog :) This one is a family recipe that is a healthier version of regular Creamed Eggs on Toast. Honestly, I like it even more - yum! It's great for breakfast, lunch, or dinner and reduces the fat content.

(You will need 6 hardboiled eggs for this recipe - you may want to prepare these the day prior)
In a jar, combine:
   3 Tbsp flour
   3/8 tsp salt
   1/8 tsp pepper
   6 Tbsp powdered milk
   1 1/2 cups water
OR 1 1/2 cups soymilk AND 3 Tbsp cornstarch instead of powdered milk and water

Screw lid on tightly. Shake vigorously (make sure flour and milk are blended). Cook quickly on stove, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and bubbles. Continue cooking for 1 minute.

Add 6 hard-cooked eggs, peeled and cut into fourths (or whatever size you want). Let cook for 3 minutes to warm the eggs.

Serve over toast (or your favorite gluten-free bread).

First delicious recipe posted by me!!

Not my picture, not my recipe... but holy cow this is tasty!!!

here is the link where I found it:

http://www.thehappygal.com/dinner-in-a-pumpkin/

The best part is the pumpkin :)  I actually switched the ground turkey for ground beef, because it's what I had, and I put extra of some of the seasonings... and I didn't use celery because Marcus doesn't like celery and is as good now at finding even the most hidden of celery pieces as he was when he was 5 :)

Love you guys!

Welcome!

So Mom had the idea a while back for us to start a blog where we can share with each other as if we were neighbors :) I think it is a marvelous idea, since we are all so far away.

So the idea is, when you do or find something awesome, share it on here!  If you find a delicious recipe, you can post it.  If you do something awesome and crafty, stick it on here.  If you are really excited about something, this is a great place for it :)

I am not particularly good with webmastering, so if you guys want to do anything or change anything on here, that would be great.  In fact, please do- I just picked the simplest format, and I haven't changed anything.  And I'm not sure I love the title of the blog either, so if you have a better idea please share :)

Hopefully this turns out fun!
